du Completes First 50G PON Trial in Gulf Region

du 50g PON

du announced the successful completion of the first 50G PON (Passive Optical Network) symmetrical technology experiment in the Gulf area. According to the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) brand, the technology offers lightning-fast speeds of up to 50 Gbps for both downlink and uplink connections, transforming fiber broadband infrastructure.

50G PON Integration

According to Du, the 50G PON seamlessly synchronizes with the current Optical Distribution Networks (ODNs) by integrating all-optical 10 Gbps connection across the board. Because of this seamless connection, service enhancements are made possible by using existing Optical Line Terminations (OLTs), which lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO). This approach improves the customer satisfaction in UAE while simultaneously increasing revenue per user (ARPU).

Improving the User Experience

“We are proud to be the first operator in the Gulf to finish the 50G PON trial, a historic accomplishment that demonstrates du’s unwavering commitment to offering our customers the newest and most cutting-edge technological solutions. Without the cooperation of our cherished clients, we could not have reached this milestone.”

Du claims that businesses and consumers may take use of high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive applications using 50G PON technology, such as 8k interactive video apps, 3D cloud design, high-graphic/high-quality AI/ML apps, and more.

Commercial Launch

Du intends to begin commercializing this cutting-edge technology in 2024, following the successful certification of 50G PON technology on the du network. According to Du, the main objective of this service is to give businesses access to the newest and most cutting-edge technology accessible.
