TCS Has Not Finished Field-Level 4G Equipment Trials

The staff union believes that in the lack of 4G, the state-run telecom operator is losing consumers because it cannot compete with the private telecoms. According to TRAI data, BSNL has been losing tens of millions of subscribers each month as a result of TCS’s delayed technology implementation.

In order to introduce 4G in India, TCS is collaborating with BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited). The Indian minister of information technology and telecom, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated in 2023 that BSNL had begun building the 4G network at 200 locations and that, following a three-month trial phase, the government-owned telecom company will begin rolling out 4G on a wide scale. That is untrue, though, according to the Employee Union (EU) of BSNL. BSNL EU said in a letter to Vaishnaw that TCS had not even finished the 4G field trials.

“The commissioning of BSNL’s 4G equipment by the TCS is getting extremely delayed,” the letter stated. The TCS hasn’t even finished the field testing of its 4G equipment yet. Nobody is clear when TCS would begin commissioning BSNL’s 4G equipment and completes field trials.”Actually, it’s anticipated that TCS will only finish the field testing by October 2024. According to what the EU noted, CMD PK Purwar stated that “BSNL’s 4G equipment commissioning by the TCS would be completed by October, 2024.” The goal date of October 2024 is excessively far, especially in light of the severe realities facing BSNL. But it appears that it is now impossible to fulfill this goal date in the first place.”
