Digital Realty, which provides scalable infrastructure and state-of-the-art technological solutions, announces the opening of its first data center in Chennai, India.

Digital Realty, a provider of cloud and carrier-neutral data centers, colocation, and interconnection solutions, announced last week the opening of its first data center in India. The facility is located on a 10-acre site in Chennai. Developed by Digital Connexion, a joint venture between Digital Realty, Brookfield Asset Management, and Reliance Industries, the campus can accommodate up to 100 MW of IT capacity.

Digital Realty Campus

According to Digital Realty, this building is a section of their plan to provide cutting-edge, highly linked digital infrastructure to satisfy a variety of client needs. The initial phase of the campus is represented by the data center, MAA10, which will handle 20 MW of IT demand. Customers may scale their infrastructure to meet varying workload demands, ranging from single-cabinet to multi-megawatt requirements, thanks to the facility’s modular infrastructure architecture.

Infrastructure Developed for AI

Digital Realty claims that the facility is prepared to handle cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, because it provides both standard and customized configurations that can accommodate the high-density power needs (up to 70 kW per rack), appropriate cooling systems, and interconnectivity requirements of AI workloads.

We think Digital Realty’s linked global open data center platform and MAA10’s next-generation data center infrastructure give our clients the fundamental building blocks they need to innovate and take advantage of this booming industry. Digital Realty stated, “We are excited to support our clients in India as they accelerate their digital goals.

The building expands Digital Realty’s global data center platform, PlatformDIGITAL, which houses over 300 facilities in more than 50 metropolises, 25+ countries, and 6 continents, and hosts a linked data community of clients, partners, cloud, and network service providers.

As stated in the official release, the facility also seeks to use renewable energy sources on applicable areas, beginning with the on-site rooftop solar power collecting system. It will gain from Brookfield’s experience with renewable energy as well.
