After successfully completing 5G mmWave technology trials, Ooredoo Kuwait demonstrated previously unprecedented speeds, minimal latency, and massive capacity.

Today, Ooredoo Kuwait and the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) announced that the 5G mmWave technology testing completed successfully. According to Ooredoo, initial tests using Millimeter Wave technology showcased previously unheard-of speeds. The trials concentrated on Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and a variety of use cases.

Ooredoo Kuwait 5.5G Network

The company demonstrated that record-speed data transfer in an operational setting is made possible by these experiments, which seamlessly integrate with the cutting-edge 5.5G network’s architecture. Ooredoo is positioned to provide new services and connections for both residential and commercial clients as a result of the trials, which demonstrate low latency and high capacity.

According to Ooredoo Kuwait, the new technology shows off its potential for Massive Machine-Type Communication (mMTC) and Ultra Low Latency Connectivity (uRLLC) by ensuring smooth and responsive performance in applications like online gaming, video conferencing, and virtual reality.

Fixed Wireless Connectivity

By utilizing 5G mmWave technology to power Fixed Wireless Access, Ooredoo aims to transform home and business connection. This will enable the company to provide dependable connectivity alternatives to rural areas and offer high-speed, SuperFast internet to consumers.

Trials Conducted

In the future, Ooredoo intends to test 5G mmWave technology in port automation, which would enable real-time communication between drones, control systems, and autonomous cars. Ooredoo also intends to revolutionize stadium connection by providing ultra-high definition live streaming and augmented reality to create immersive fan experiences.

Ooredoo Kuwait said the success of these trials aligns with its “Upgrade Your World” strategy, aimed at providing cutting-edge solutions and enhancing customer experiences, in line with Kuwaiti Vision 2035 and the digital transformation of the region.
