The commercial 5G and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services of Telesom, a telecom operator located in Somaliland, have been launched and will be accessible to both residential and corporate users starting in 2024. The business views the deployment of the first 5G mobile service as an important step in giving Somaliland’s citizens access to state-of-the-art connectivity.
Somaliland Launches 5G Service
Numerous government representatives were present during the launch ceremony, which was held at Telesom Headquarters. These services “will not only enrich the lives of individuals but also catalyze economic growth and innovation in different parts of rural and urban communities,” according to the business.
5G Coverage
Twelve locations Hargeisa, Burco, Buuhoodle, Borama, Berbera, Erigavo, Gabiley, Laascaanood, Sheekh, Wajaale, Widhwidh, and Xudun are now covered by Telesom’s 5G network, according to the company.
Device Compatibility
Telesom customers may use 5G services on smartphones including the Apple iPhone, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others that are compatible; Samsung devices will be added shortly.
Fixed Wireless connectivity (FWA) will be available soon, providing homes and businesses with high-speed internet connectivity in addition to 5G services. To begin using these services, FWA devices and data packs are now available for purchase by all Telesom customers.
